BIG News!

You may have noticed my sporadic posting lately and wondering what I've been up to. Well I can finally tell you that I got a new job! No more in between for me!

Where is this new job? I'll give you a hint...

Need another one?

How about this?

That's right, I'm now proudly employed at Wisteria!!!

I know right?! I'm on the creative team as the creative assistant. That means I'll be working on styling and producing the catalogs. Total drool! I'll be spending my days building sets and running photo shoots and I couldn't be happier. The employee discount doesn't hurt either!

When I got the job I jetted off to NYC for a few days to celebrate and have one last hurrah. I had an epic trip with a celebrity sighting, subway bruhaha, an earthquake, and I even got to meet the awesome Courtney from BBB! I am very excited about my new opportunity and hopefully now that I have all new things to be inspired by I will be back to a regular blogging schedule!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Ch Ch Ch Changes!

Welcome to the new and improved Flights of Whimsy! We went live Wednesday and I would like to sincerely thank Shari, at Little Blue Deer, for making the magic happen!

A refresh was long overdue. I now feel that my blog's exterior matches it's interior (colorful, fabulous, spunky, a little whimsical!)

You may also notice that I have a Facebook link too! So if you could just mosey on over there and like my page, that'd be greeeeat m'kay?

There's also some changes going on in the real Flights of Whimsy castle. Our master bathroom is being worked on! Finally! We thought it would be done this week but we had to order more tile so hopefully it will be done next week and then I can have the big reveal! It's so exciting to finally have the bathroom I've always dreamed we'd have in this house.

With everything going on I kind of feel like this...

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend!

Dream Home Wish List

Scott and I plan to build our own home from the ground up someday. It will be a place where we raise children and grandchildren, where we'll retire, and where we'll spend our days growing old together. We both want a Spanish style home so I'm happy we agree there. I picture a home close to the city but far enough away to have plenty of land and mature trees. There will be a beautiful pool, a rolling lawn, and a lovely garden with a big back porch overlooking all of it.

The list of things I want to have in this dream home is phenomenal. But a girl can dream right?

#1. A huge kitchen with french doors opening to the backyard. Love this industrial stove and the tiled floors.

#2. An amazing light filled studio/office for me to work in. I plan to own my own business someday so I will need an inspiring space to work in. Preferably this space would be in a loft or a Turret. Ambitious no?

#3. Beautiful backyard, with pool, lawn, and lake

#4. Awesome terrace overlooking said backyard

#5. A place in the backyard to escape to

#6. A rolling ladder with a giant row of bookcases.

#7. A closet fit for a princess (that chair!)

#8. Every room must be filled with an impossible amount of light. Except my husband's office, it will be a cave just like he likes it.

The list of things to add to my dream home grow by the day. What's on your dream home wish list?

Happy Birthday...to me this time!

It's official, today I'm nine thousand one hundred and twenty five days old! You could also call me a quarter of a century old, two and a half decades, thirteen million one hundred and fourty thousand minutes, which ever way you want to put it, it's my birthday!

Guess where I'll be spending my birthday? I'll give you a hint...

That's right, New York City baby! I'll be here visiting friends and eating cupcakes from Magnolia bakery, going to not one, but two flea markets (brooklyn and chealsea) for a whole 5 days!

Do you buy yourself presents for your birthday? I sure do! I'm hoping to get myself these...

I Would Die, Just Die

Found this gem on craigslist...

Patterned French Glass Windows
French doors front and back with a small covered porch
Front sitting room has rose marble fireplace
Included in sale is 4 chairs, a writing desk, 2 sconces and bed, all original to the wagon

Imported from the Netherlands

I wish I had a big yard so I could put this in it. It should be my office. Imagine it all bohemian-ed out with little flowers growing around it.

Oh, and I also wish I had $15,000 to buy it...

The Best Things in Life are Free...

Like this super cute table I just got out of the trash! Check it!

It even has a little drawer on the front with this super cute handle.

It just needs a little lovin. I feel some sanding and staining coming your way my new friend...I would like to stain a little pattern in the top. Does anyone have experience with this? If I got a cool stencil and stained over it and sealed would that work or would the stain bleed under the stencil? Is there a better way to do this?

BTW this will mean both my nightstands will be trash rescues. I'm like a antique trash ninja, YAH!

Can you believe someone put this antique sewing machine out IN THE TRASH?! Oh well, one person's trash is apparently my treasure!

And thanks to my wonderful husband for stopping after I yelled something like "TABLE! TRASH! MUST GO BACK!" even though we had a car full of groceries and two dogs in the back seat.

I'm on Sabbatical...

Sorry about the recent absence...I just wanted to do a quick post to let you all know what I'm up to. Everything happened so fast with getting my new job, leaving my old one that I didn't have much time to share with you my plans. I'm on a two week sabbatical from my "daily life". It's all over on May 4th so I will be back to regular blogging then. I have a lot of things on my to do list to accomplish and unfortunately (or maybe not) blogging and being on the computer just isn't one of them. But I promise that I will have a lot of house projects and not one but two vacations to share with you upon my return. I will also get all caught up on reading all of your posts as well! And truth be told I've missed all of you and it's been hard to stay away but as you all know taking a break and recharging your batteries is a necessity. So for now, I'm off to Lowe's to look at paint colors for my entry way, stay tuned!

Drumroll Please......I got a new job!

I had my last day at my current job today and I am on to bigger, better, and more exciting things with an amazing company! I'm going to be working for a small home furnishings brand called Aidan Gray Home. Get a load of this eye candy...

Here I will be wearing many different hats which I am thrilled about. I will be doing brand management, PR, creative lead for advertising, catalog, and web design. I will also be traveling to the showrooms to present the direction of the line each season and represent the company at market. I can't wait to share more with you all as I get to know this company better!
