Craigslist Potential

I've been searching for more seating for our living room for a while now. It's been tough because I wasn't really sure what would look good with our existing furniture. I had originally planned on getting a long mid century credenza to go on the art wall. 

I still think that would look fabulous but the fact is, we have people over quite a bit and we need  more seating. We often end up with all our dining and breakfast chairs in here. Now one extra piece is not going to totally solve that but it will help. Plus there's plenty of space in here for more furniture.

So here is my idea...

After a lot of searching I found this pretty chaise for a good price on craig. I'm hoping they respond and I can grab it this weekend. 

It would go in front of the fireplace. The sofa would go along the gallery wall with a console behind for lamps (we really need non overhead lighting in here) and the suzani chairs would go in front of the opening to the dining room.

For reference our TV is here. I love it tucked out of the way in this little nook.

I'm thinking this needs to be covered in some kind of velvet, maybe with a geo print, maybe a solid who knows. I also will probably paint the frame, it looks a bit light wood colored which is yucky. A shot of black might be nice in this room, hmm considerations. I like this piece because of it's curviness in contrast to my square lined sofa and wing chairs. I think a bit if frenchy might be nice in the mix.

What do you guys think? Would you arrange differently? Use a settee or love seat instead? I'm all ears!

Freshening things up for Spring with a few little things here and there.

New pillows from Ecuador are out.

The detail on them is fabulous. All embroidered on velvet. Can't believe I scored both of these for $35.

Added some new art to the gallery wall. (the one on the left) My husband said most of the art in our home was made by me and he wanted to make something. So naturally, Mr. Computer Guy wrote a program to generate these sweet abstract images from a photo. Of course his art is still made by a computer, love that!

Been thinking about rearranging my living room, but that's a whole other post!

Changed things up on the mantle.

I'm in love with this agate clock my parents got me for Christmas. You know rocks are my thang!

New DIY Upholstered Headboard

Hello friends!

Wow, life is busy! I'll spare you all my excuses about my absence so let's just get straight to the pretty.

New Headboards!

And tons of pattern!

You may recall the headboard I built forever ago. I covered it with a kantha cloth, which I loved, but I knew it wasn't forever. I had admired this crewel work fabric for a long time and finally decided to order it.

Then I waited...and waited...and waited more. It took over 6 months to come! And for that reason I won't link you to the website. They are full of lies and I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Good thing this was for me and not a client. Could you imagine?!

Pillows are sewn by me. The blue fabric is hand blocked brought by my father in law back from Indonesia.

So what do you guys think? I'm just loving the way all the color and pattern mixes together. It's not something I planned or even think can be planned. It has to be layered and collected over time. Not good for those of us who like instant gratification but so satisfying in the end!

Next I would like to replace the lamps, I think emerald green needs to go in here like I need dark chocolate (which is really bad!)

Curtain of the Week

I'm a sucker for a good curtain. Maybe it's because I like fabrics in general so much. Maybe its because, HELLO, they are awesome!

So I'm going to start doing a curtain of the week. Behold the first installment...

Come Fabric Shopping with Me! Virtually of course...

I went back to my hometown of Houston last weekend for some fun, a little shopping, a bunch of eating, and some tooth drilling (stepmom is a dental hygienist and I got the hookup, could be worse!)

Now I'm going to show you all that awesome stuff with shitty iphone pics! Yay! My car was broken into last time I went to htown so I wasn't about to bring my nice camera.

The first night BFF and I went for tapas at Andalucia's. There was a band and dancers performing.

The food was soooo good. I still can't stop thinking about it.

The entertainment was great. Everyone in the restaurant was clapping and getting into it. I love that!

I packed all these great dresses and shoes to wear out on the town and left them hanging on my closet door because I'm so awesome. Luckily BFF is my size. I just hate not being able to wear some of my awesome dresses! I have a confession to make: I have more dresses than I have tops. Is that weird? If I could never wear pants again I would be very happy.

On sunday we went to Wortham Theater to see the famous Houston Ballet perform Madame Butterfly. It was so amazing and inspiring.

Of course I couldn't pass up the opportunity to get fancy!

This is my favorite statue in Houston. Its been up for years.

And no trip would be complete without a visit to the motherland.

I've seen this fabric before and I'm still in love with it. Such beautiful green goodness. Would be great on a Mid Century chair.

Drooled over this great tassel trim for a project I have in mind.

This cut velvet on linen took my breath away when I turned the corner.

That is until I saw its sister on the next row. Such a perfect shade of coral-red. I die. Must find a home for this immediately. I think drapes for sure.

This desk in the clearance section begged to come home with me. But even at half off the price tag was still 1k. Sorry sweet desk, sweet sweet beautiful desk.

The accessories were a great price too. Some of the larger vases were only around $30. They were so sculptural too. Would love to see a pair flanking a mantle.

This shiny business really caught my eye. It didn't photograph well but looked great in person. Just a little shimmer on a drape would be amazing.

Same with this. It looked really organic in person. Like trees or something. So pretty.

If you see something you liked here you should definitely call them and email a pic. I have done so before and they are awesome to work with and will ship to you. Not all their fabrics are online, with four enormous floors how could it be.

Love love love this store. If I ever open a business (please dear decor gods I want to) it will be like this. Tons of unique fabrics, home goods and accessories. How does Dallas have nothing like this?!

Quick Change: Chair Makeover

I finally got my hands on the fabric I've been coveting for our new breakfast nook chairs.

If you may recall they look like this...

And I got all 4 for only $40.

I know I still can't get over it either.

And now...

So pretty!

It's a velvety fabric, super luxe, methinks.

I like the darker fabric with the teak wood and white table.

I got all the fabric for about $60. All in all that makes this $25 per chair for the initial cost plus fabric.

Not bad!

And it looks fabulous with our vintage rug.
