Details Around My House

Freshening things up for Spring with a few little things here and there.

New pillows from Ecuador are out.

The detail on them is fabulous. All embroidered on velvet. Can't believe I scored both of these for $35.

Added some new art to the gallery wall. (the one on the left) My husband said most of the art in our home was made by me and he wanted to make something. So naturally, Mr. Computer Guy wrote a program to generate these sweet abstract images from a photo. Of course his art is still made by a computer, love that!

Been thinking about rearranging my living room, but that's a whole other post!

Changed things up on the mantle.

I'm in love with this agate clock my parents got me for Christmas. You know rocks are my thang!

Ketchup + Quick Change

Oh hello lovers!

I've been a bad bad blogger.

I suck!

But I've been busy stretching my back out and stuff so I can do things like this...

And finally getting stuff like this...

A trick I've been wanting to do FOREVER!

And I also went to Ecuador for two weeks and saw stuff like this...

So much to say about that trip, but that's a post all it's own.

So I'll just get back to decor for now.

We bought a ridiculously awesome rug from E Sale Rugs for the kitchen. The previous rug is moving into our soon-to-be-finished-please-god-finally second bathroom.

I am so happy with it. The company is great, cheap, ships fast, and the prices can't be beat.

(oh and look we got a new dishwasher a few months back!)

We got this one for $300 and its a 4x6. The only thing is I would say their pictures aren't 100% accurate for color. I had a feeling this one would be more pink than red, which is what I wanted and I was right. I think you can get a general sense of the color in their pictures and the return policy is generous as well.

I was also able to catch one of my favorite bands last week, Purity Ring. Amazing show and I highly recommend you give them a listen.

And if you've gotten January's Wisteria catalog you might be pleased to know that is MY STYLING work on the cover!!!! And I styled the majority of the images INSIDE the book too. I'm so excited to see it in print. You can scroll through the catalog here.

That's all I got for now. If you're ever having withdrawals you can follow me on instagram for the latest, brandi_fow.

Later taters!

Quick Change: Moroccan Table Redo

I have two of these little Moroccan style tables in our home.

I got them years ago at a sample sale when I worked at JcPenney corporate. They're great little tables but the other day I decided it was time for an update.

I used a gold leaf pen to outline the legs and a little metallic paint on the top.

I think the outline on the legs especially shows off the awesome shape of the legs and the top now looks like stamped tin. Overall I'm quite pleased at what an hour of work got me!

Quick Change: New Pillows

We've had these same pillows I made from a vintage scarf for a while now. I thought it would be great to bring in some more texture and change it up for Winter.

All of these fabrics are purchases I made even though I had no idea what I would do with it. Turned out to be a good decision! A few bucks in hidden zippers made for a quick switcheroo!

The black and gold is velvet that I purchased last summer.

The pink fabric is actually from Joann's. It's so pretty I had a hard time choosing which color I liked. The black polka dot is velvet on linen and was a remnant for cheap.

I hope to find more fabrics I like to replace the others as well!

Happy Thursday!

Quick Change: Canton Flea Finds

I'm interrupting house tour 2012  to show you my latest finds from Canton Flea Market. AKA the place where most of our stuff is from.

I didn't get a whole lot this time. Partially because I wasn't looking for much, partially because it was over 100 degrees out. Seriously, walking around in that heat in the Texas sun will make you lose the will to live. That coupled with my four hours of sleep the night before made me feel a bit vomity.

I bought these gold wall hangings, $25 for the pair. I walked all around my house holding them up and they looked best here. The dark wall really shows them off.

They purty.

I also snagged these vintage knobs. $5 for all eight. When the lady told me $5, I said each? And she said no for all of them and I repeated, all eight? I was sure I wasn't hearing her correctly. They're kinda a muted green color in the center with a perfectly patina-ed brass detail. They will go in our guest bathroom which we are currently renovating. Currently as in, the past 8 months. It's slow when you DIY. I will post my plans for that soon. It's finally starting to look like a room again instead of a construction zone.

I also put a vintage ring on lay away. Are you shocked I love vintage jewelry too? I have a completely superfluous goal to collect a right hand vintage ring in every color. So far I have blue, pink and now soon I'll have green.

 Back to bathroom tour tomorrow!

Quick Change: A Big Ol Honkin Rug

Am I finally embracing my Texas roots with the title of this post?

I kinda hope not...I just don't like country music ya'll.

There I go again...

I bought another discontinued rug from Wisteria Flea Market for our master bedroom.

I didn't realize how big it would be in our room until I got it home. But I kinda like it this way.

From this:

To this:

It's a dhurrie so it still needs to flatten out a bit. I plan to put some carpet tape under it asap as well.

It goes so beautifully with our new curtains!

What do you think? Bold right? I wouldn't have it any other way.

Quick Change: Chair Makeover

I finally got my hands on the fabric I've been coveting for our new breakfast nook chairs.

If you may recall they look like this...

And I got all 4 for only $40.

I know I still can't get over it either.

And now...

So pretty!

It's a velvety fabric, super luxe, methinks.

I like the darker fabric with the teak wood and white table.

I got all the fabric for about $60. All in all that makes this $25 per chair for the initial cost plus fabric.

Not bad!

And it looks fabulous with our vintage rug.

A bonus little bottle collection shot for you. Trying to get a few more areas of or house styled out before a dinner party saturday night!

Happy Tuesday Lovers!

Quick Change Time: Finally, A Proper Living Room Rug!

We've been living with a rug in our living room that was all kinds of wrong. Color didn't work, way too small for the space, slid all around the place.

Before...

And now!

It's a beautiful navy blue dhurrie at a whopping 9x12.

I am so happy to finally have a proper rug. Scott really likes it too which says something. I got a great deal on it at work since its a discontinued item.

PS If you are in the Dallas area stop by the Wisteria store for the weekly flea market, tons of stuff at cheap cheap cheap!

What do you guys think?

Quick Change Friday: Gun Art

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I got burned out on projects after the holidays and I've been working on something non-decor related. More on that later.

In other news, I finally framed the gun art I made forever ago. Yay!

I still love it!

My art wall is filling up slowly but surely.

I hate this rug in here...

And the coffee table...

But I must wait for the perfect thing (at the perfect price) to come along. Patience grasshopper.

My scarf pillows are in here now.

They so purty.

I'm teaching myself how to paint with water colors.

It's going ok...

Let's look at some other things with guns in them! Cuz they're edgy and stuff!

Made with flowers, love that.

I still get the warm fuzzies for these chairs featured in Bailey's chicago home in Rue.

What have you been working on lately?

Happy Friday!
