Gone Wild!

Because I'm a bit nutty and I bought these awesome shoes yesterday...

They're on sale now at Nordstrom's Anniversary sale. RUN PEOPLE! It's fabulous.

Anyhoo, I'm going to talk about leopard prints today in honor of my new purchase!

Olivia Palermo is often seen in leopard prints of all kinds. I just love her chic style, so perfect.

I could totally rock these. From Net-a-Porter. But at over a cool G, maybe not...

Note to self: get leopard print tights for fall/winter.

A little leopard print should be in every room!

Water for Elephants Costumes

I saw this movie over the weekend and am now completely obsessed. The set, the costumes, the story, the actors, all of it. I read the book and loved it as well so I went into the movie with some trepidation but this seriously surpassed all my expectations. I wasn't sure how I would like Reese and Robert as the main characters, even though I love them, I had always pictured these two differently. They were, of course, just wonderful in these roles.

Even more so I can't get all the fabulous dresses the main character, Marlena wore out of my mind! Reese looked stunning with her blond ringlets and red lips.

Can you imagine trying to look this fabulous when you live on a train?

This red dress was certainly a favorite.

Did any one see it and love it as much as I did?

Happy Monday! Come back tomorrow to see some projects I did over the weekend!

TheCoveted.Com

If you like snooping around people's closets + pictures of pretty clothing and accessories then I have great news for you! Thecoveted.com has just launched a site full of inspiration and features a behind closed doors look into the closets of some of the biggest names in fashion.

<span class='fancyPhotoDesc'>This is an outfit saver.</span><span class='fancyPhotoName'>Vest, Sportmax</span>

<span class='fancyPhotoDesc'>From my dad and my brother! I was impressed when they picked these out for me and my new apartment. I like how these are a little chipped and warn, and of course, pink is my favorite color. Until I started working at Teen Vogue, I was always Mary Kate, or my family nickname, Kater. But in the fashion industry, everyone calls me MK. I can't say I ever wanted to be called MK, but now I do love it.</span>

<span class='fancyPhotoName'>Shoes, Miu Miu</span>

<span class='fancyPhotoDesc'>This photo is stunning and I feel like the dress will never look as good on me as it does in the sunshine of the window! Its Malene Birger, and my mom bought it for me at one of the only chic stores in my hometown of Milwaukee, Falcoln. It had little black bows all over it, which I removed because I liked the simplicity of the black cuffs and tiered hem. Its pretty sheer, I haven’t quite figured out how to wear it, but the image is stunning.</span><span class='fancyPhotoName'>Dress, Malene Birger</span>

<span class='fancyPhotoDesc'>The photo is of Kirsten Owen and again, is a bit of a contradiction in that the expression is so candid and the fashion is so tailored. It is completely subjective in terms of what she is doing - yelling, yawning, freaking out, over dosing. There is such a juxtaposition in this picture that I love.</span><span class='fancyPhotoName'>Shoes, Prada, Rachel Comey, N.D.C., Pierre Hardy, Lanvin</span>

<span class='fancyPhotoDesc'>I love adding a little sparkle to a daytime look, something that catches the light.</span><span class='fancyPhotoName'>Earrings, J.Crew; Earrings, Lulu Frost</span>

Is is just me or do you want to see more of their houses too?

Fall is Here! Fall is Here!

Yesterday in Dallas the high was 80 degrees, it was windy, slightly cloudy and this morning was only 55 degrees. I feel so exhilarated! We took advantage of the cool weather and did some yard work yesterday. I'm working on a little revamp for my backyard that I will hopefully reveal next week!

All of this has me thinking about changing things up a bit for fall. Both in my closet and my home!

Velvet shoes a must for fall? I think so!

Blue Velvet is Especially my favorite! More you say? No problemo!

Boob alert!

Texture and wood for fall is a must!

A quick search for velvets yielded some really great fabrics.

Oh my, I'll take them all! I think I'll be adding some new throw pillows to my couch for Fall. I know some of you may like to change to darker colors for the season, but me I like my brights. I prefer to stay colorful but still bring in Fall textures through velvet, maybe some fur, and some rustic wood surfaces.

Whew, got a little carried away there...

Have a grrrrrreat week! (there I go again)

Pale and Saturated; Spring Color Trends

A new spring trend that I'm absolutely loving is all the pale colors. This feels so fresh though because it is not just a pale pink or pale blue. The colors are lighter but still saturated. The softness of this palette looks beautiful juxtaposed with tailored and strong pieces and goes great with nude leathers in shoes and handbags. A great accent for the pale colors is a lighter coral with a touch of gray in it. I can feel my credit card tingling...

Vivienne Westwood Red Label
Organic
Isaac Mizrahi
(FYI this also reinforces another Spring trend, inner wear as outer wear)
Versace
(you may have also seen this dress on Christina Aguilara for some awards show, her curves made this dress look amazing, it looks like crap on this skinny model, just sayin)
Pale with coral from Alberta Ferretti
Marchesa

I have this top, it's a beauty, it has these little button closures on the sides that give it a really nice fit, plus the color palette is lovely!
