This time last year we were in Italy on our honeymoon. While we were there I took many pictures of beautiful doors which I hoped to turn in to artwork. These are some of my favorites...
The handle on this one was a coiled snake.

Yellow + Gray
While there's nothing new about this color combination, I still find new ways that this combo can inspire me. Is there anything that doesn't look good with gray!
I'll take that yellow phone please!
I know this has been circling the blogs for years but can someone just tell me where I can get that dress!

The Best Things in Life are Free...
Like this super cute table I just got out of the trash! Check it!
It even has a little drawer on the front with this super cute handle.
It just needs a little lovin. I feel some sanding and staining coming your way my new friend...I would like to stain a little pattern in the top. Does anyone have experience with this? If I got a cool stencil and stained over it and sealed would that work or would the stain bleed under the stencil? Is there a better way to do this?
BTW this will mean both my nightstands will be trash rescues. I'm like a antique trash ninja, YAH!
Can you believe someone put this antique sewing machine out IN THE TRASH?! Oh well, one person's trash is apparently my treasure!
And thanks to my wonderful husband for stopping after I yelled something like "TABLE! TRASH! MUST GO BACK!" even though we had a car full of groceries and two dogs in the back seat.

Dining Chair Fail + Antique Wins
Table: (licking his lips) mmm I eat tiny dining chairs like you for breakfast!
Chairs: noooo mr. dining table, I'm an antique and I wasn't meant for such a big table, it's not my fault!
Table: nomnomnomnomnom
I bought these dining chairs at Canton last week. I got all 4 for $90, I planned to paint them pewter, sand the edges, and cover the seats with awesome fabric.
But once I got them home and put them at the table I realized they don't work at all! Le sigh...they are very small visually compared to my meaty table. I would prefer something with heavier legs and a higher back. I will never find another deal as good! I will be selling them on craigslist if you or anyone you know wants them.
On a lighter note I did have other antique successes recently. For example, the lovely blue vase in the above photo. I'm now looking for glass of the same vivid blue. I think a collection of it on my black table would look stunning, only $5!
I got this wall art as well. There are different kinds of men around the clock and a small caption at the bottom that says "time of her life", get em girl!
Snagged this gold chair I put at my vanity table. The seat cover will be changed but I love the details and the sanded edges.
I also got some large vintage scarves for a dollar each that I plan to frame. Too bad they will cost like $150+ each to frame. Guess that will have to wait until later. It's crazy how expensive custom framing is. I even got a quote from Hobby Lobby when they were having a half off frame sale and it was still $$$$. It's highway robbery I tells ya!

My Life as a Wedding Planner
My brother is getting married to a lovely lady on June 5th at our parents "farm". I say "farm" because the only animals they have are a bunch of cats, but it's a place in the country with a barn nonetheless. My brother's fiance, Jackie, is in her last semester of college, taking classes, student teaching, getting ready to move, so I offered to help plan the wedding. Not that I wouldn't have wanted to anyways :). A few weekends ago my aunts threw her a lovely bridal shower, they threw mine last year and they are the best hostesses if I do say so!
They used vintage hankies as napkins, so cute!

A good time was had by all. Did I mention my aunt has a super cute house? Because she does...
It's a victorian style house with a huge wooded lot.
She hung vintage hand mirrors with plate holders in a diamond pattern, it looked beautiful.
My grandpa's picture from the navy, isn't he a cutie?
My mom is also making Jackie's wedding dress by hand which I helped design. Can you believe my mom's skillz?! I'm so happy Jackie was open to the idea of adding the blue lining, it's what makes this dress special. Here is Jackie at her recent fitting. She will be wearing the same jewelry that I wore and designed myself for my wedding. It makes me happy that some one else will get to enjoy it.
Here are some inspiration pictures I've been collecting for the wedding. It's going to be so charming and country chic. My mom and I have been collecting bottles, tins, and vintage table cloths for months. I can't wait to see everything all set up!
Her dress was inspired from these images...
Yes, we will have rows of hay as seating at the ceremony...
So what do you think? Is my stint as a wedding planner going ok?
