I'm taking my sweet, slow time to pick out the perfect couch. Inadvertently this allows my youngest dog more time to get past his blanket chewing stage, so hey, it all happens at the right time huh?
So far I'm really feeling this sofa...
From Designer Sofas Direct, Madera. It has the tapered legs I'm looking for, simple lines, low armrests. But I do wish it had little wheels on the legs. I could always add them though. This baby starts at a mere $599. Not sure about shipping yet. I ordered a few swatches of indigo fabric but none of them are "the one". More options are on the way.
I really wish I could order this sofa...
From Sofa.com. But they only deliver to the UK. The color, the velvet, the wheels, the legs. It's perfect!
I am considering checking out some of the lighter blue options though. I just want to make sure my living room stays light, airy, and fresh. So I want to be very mindful of all my fabric, pattern, and texture choices.
Jenna Lyons has one in lighter blue. But then again my dogs are messy as evidenced by my current light colored couch, so maybe dark is the way to go?
Maybe an in between blue like this beauty I posted earlier. I love this color with the purple. And you know I'm a huge fan of purple!
One thing is for sure it must have some sort of velvetyness. This couch from Crate and Barrel is a micro-fiber velvet. Has anyone ever touched to know if it's nice?
But as Cote Provence reminded me, there are nicer sofas for waaaaaay cheaper than $1600. Thanks for the reality check!
Does anyone else find that when they have the perfect vision in their mind of what they want, you almost never see the perfect thing to match your vision? I feel like this all the time! Maybe I'm picky, maybe I'm particular, but at least I know what I want!
Here's some more pretty sofa pictures for your optical pleasure!
Happy hump day!

Fall is Here! Fall is Here!
Yesterday in Dallas the high was 80 degrees, it was windy, slightly cloudy and this morning was only 55 degrees. I feel so exhilarated! We took advantage of the cool weather and did some yard work yesterday. I'm working on a little revamp for my backyard that I will hopefully reveal next week!
All of this has me thinking about changing things up a bit for fall. Both in my closet and my home!

Velvet shoes a must for fall? I think so!
Blue Velvet is Especially my favorite! More you say? No problemo!
Boob alert!
Texture and wood for fall is a must!
A quick search for velvets yielded some really great fabrics.
Oh my, I'll take them all! I think I'll be adding some new throw pillows to my couch for Fall. I know some of you may like to change to darker colors for the season, but me I like my brights. I prefer to stay colorful but still bring in Fall textures through velvet, maybe some fur, and some rustic wood surfaces.
Whew, got a little carried away there...
Have a grrrrrreat week! (there I go again)

Currently Obsessed With; Wall of Mirrors
Earlier this year I repainted our entry way a fantastic minty green. I love it! I'm planning on doing a collection of antique beveled edge mirrors above the console table and so far I have two. Those babies are expensive! Most of the time they are over $100 each and since I need several I have to find them CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP!
Don't you just love the look though? Beveled mirrors just seems to sparkle and shine more and the more chips, cracks, and aged spots the better!
What do you have in your entry way?
Happy Friday everyone!

Color Me Happy; Turquoise and Red
Many of you may remember this dresser I bought a few months back.
I love it, but I have been struggling to make red look good in our bedroom. Until I saw this...
I'm in love. This is the inspiration for our bedroom now. I know red and turq is not a new combo but it certainly has caught my eye recently!
I've done a few brisk searches on the Craig for a headboard I could make my own but nothing has struck me yet as the "one". I'm thinking I might try to make it my own with something like this.
Does anyone know where I can find affordable white sheets with a deep purple edge like in my inspiration photo? Please share!

Evenings, Mornings, Afternoons
“For I have known them all already, know them all -- have known the evenings, mornings, afternoons, I have measured out my life with coffee spoons.” - T.S. Eliot
Something about this collection of images makes me feel comfortable. Like I could just walk on in, make myself a sandwich and settle down for a while.
Hope the week is treating you well!

House Projects & Giveaway Winner!
Happy Friday everyone! And a warm welcome to all my new followers! I'm happy to announce the winner (chosen by random.org) of the CSN giveaway is Sarah, from La Maison Boheme!
Congratulations! You will receive an email with your gift certificate code!
I also have a couple of projects to share with you this friday. I'm sure you remember my Craigslist dining chairs. It's taken me forever to tackle this project due to the heat but it's cooled off a bit so I decided to get it done this week. The two arm chairs are sanded, primed, painted, and poly-ed! I put the fabric on them to get an idea of the finished product. Take a look!
Sorry for the super dark pictures guys. I will do better next time I promise. Not that my picture taking skills are awesome in the daylight though, let's be honest!
I don't think I've showed you my finished curtains yet either. I purchased the fabric from Mood as a birthday gift and my mom helped me sew them. They are beautiful, we lined them and sewed them with love and they feel heavy and look lovely. I got mercury glass holdbacks from Lowe's of all places and they go perfectly in here. Still haven't decided what to do with the chandelier, I keep thinking something will just jump out at me like, "Here I am Brandi! I am the perfect light fixture and oh so affordable won't I look awesome in your dining room and just complete the whole look and make all your dreams come true?!". Ok maybe not quite like that but sorda.
Now all I need is money for the upholsterer! Aren't all our houses a work in progress?
I bought a few vintage scarves to frame as artwork but of course they are an unusual size and require custom framing. That shiz is expensive! For this small one I bought a simple frame on sale at Michaels. It's one of those glass frames where the picture just floats in the center, and BAM one scarf framed! I wish the frame were a bit bigger so I could put some matting in there. I will keep looking, I can always use a black lacquer frame so it was a good purchase.
I'm off to Washington DC for the weekend to visit family and go shopping with Eddie Ross! Have a fantabulous weekend!

Color Me Happy; Back in Black!
This is the beginning of a new series on FOW focused on all things color. Color combos, colors I love, color trends, and colorful rooms!
After seeing this home tour on Bright Bazaar, I was totally inspired by decorating heavily with black. For some reason it feels so fresh all of the sudden. Black certainly gives a mood and certain weight to a room that is unrivaled by any other color. When paired with small doses of a bright color, perfection!
Not ready to take the plunge? Maybe just some black trim will help you get your toes wet!
A black little girl's room, would you dare? When I was younger I wanted everything pink. I had pink carpeting, pink bedding, pink canopy bed. Hey, at least I knew what I wanted!
What do you have in your house that's black? Would you paint a whole room?

Maybe just large pieces of furniture will ease you in?
