I've been movin and groovin around the house lately. Meaning I've finally been making decisions when it comes to the decor of our home. After 4 samples of purple paint on my wall I picked a dining room color and walla...drama in the dining room!
Before....
I added these little corner pieces the other day. They are actually shelf brackets from Anthropologie!
And After!
I believe I have also decided on curtain fabric. What do we think?
It's a black flocked fabric with a pewter background. Very luxurious. I would have preferred something with purple actually in it but I've been to every hot fabric warehouse in Dallas and found nothing of the sort. So I thought maybe black and white-ish would work instead. I am growing concerned that my dining room may look too dark with the dark purple and blacky sort of fabric so I could go a little lighter with these...
This is also a flocked fabric with a white background instead of pewter. Which do you think would be better? I also think I'll make my first Aidan Gray employee purchase and get these chairs...
The frame is actually more gray in person. I think the light fabric will make a nice contrast to the black. The back of the chairs are burlap which I plan to cover with something else, maybe something funky...
I also hope to order this chandelier from CSN lighting. It actually has a white shade, hopefully it will still be there when I get paid!
I like that it's a little bit modern and a little bit sparkly. Depending on the fabric I could also dress up the shade a bit somehow. We'll see...
So, is there anything you're loving, not loving, would do differently, please share and don't be shy!
You're next bland living room!
You will be painted the perfect shade of putty-gray. Anyone want to take bets on how many swatches of paint I will put on the wall before I actually choose? In the entry way I had 3 and the dining room I had 4 and we all know how hard choosing a perfect gray is!
P.S. YES, that is a hole in the cushion on my couch! Our dogs have chewed holes through every soft item in the home. So no new pillows, blankets, or chairs for me until the young one gets through his textile loving phase, ugh! The couch is pretty old and I can't wait to replace it!

LOVE the purple...looks so rich
I agree, that purple is lovely! Great post!
You did such an awesome job! I LOVE it, and love everything you've picked to go with it! The curtains, the chandelier, the chair - hey, you're really good at this! XO!
WOW WOW WOW!!! you did an amazing job! and I love the purple! looks super great!
LOVE the purple. Gorgeous!
fabulous choice, of course! I'd go with the larger circular patterned fabric. But you have so much light pouring in the windows, the smaller paisley print wouldn't be too busy in there. the "gingerbread" in the frame work looks great. and if they are out of your fixture in white, go see michael the next time you're in town. we DO have a lighting connection, you know. oh- and I like the little pop of turquoise on your table top. very nice!
yep! I know how hard choosing the perfect gray can be. Love those chairs you chose - that room is gonna be great! post some after shots!
Gorgeous!!!
