Color Me Happy: Dark & Lovely

Lately I've been drawn to the dark and moody rooms. As my decor style continues to refine itself its become more and more apparent that I like things on the dark side. Not in an evil way but in a deep, saturated color sort of way. I feel like you can just cocoon yourself in a dark color, maybe that's why.

I'm really coveting these botanical prints on a black background, I must have one!

I must do a post all about curtains soon. My pinterest is full of images I pinned simply for the curtains.

From ESD

This bathroom has been on my lust list for sooo long, just gorgeous!

My spare bedroom will soon be available to function as my office and I fully plan on going dark in there. Can't wait!

Do you have any dark rooms in your house?

Color Me Happy; Emerald Green

Maybe it's the holidays, but I seem to be noticing this color more and more recently. Emerald green is such a rich and lovely color best paired with another bright and used in small doses. This keeps the color feeling fresh and young.

Another pairing of green and salmon, a new trend perhaps!

P.S. I hope everyone is getting their handmade gifts ready for the gift swap! They need to go out to their recipient by the 17th!

Color Me Happy; Pink!

Happy Monday! And hopefully for most of you this is a short work week. I know it is for me! You'll be happy to know I got absolutely nothing done last weekend! Yay for procrastination! I'm still getting over my cold so I just didn't have the energy. Shame because the warm weather is quickly running out so I MUST finish my chairs before it's too late!

Now on to the Pink! I'm in love. When I was a little girl my whole room was pink. I even had pink carpet! I thought I had moved on forever but oh was I wrong. This color always holds a special place in my heart.

Could you paint brick pink?

What a girly dream!

Wouldn't this be a great room for a teen?

I'm loving this trend of throwing fur on chairs this winter.

I'm dying over this headboard.

Have a lovely Monday!

Color Me Happy: Fresh and White

Ok so I guess this is more of the absence of color but a color scheme is a color scheme nonetheless. I know all of us with kids and dogs (and sometimes husbands) dream of having a white living room or bedroom and looking longingly at photos is the closest we'll ever get, sigh...

Happy hump day my loves!

Color Me Happy: Inky Blue

We have all been buzzing about this fabulous color and personally I just can't get enough can you?

I equate it to your best fitting pair of dark blue jeans. You can dress them up, dress them down and they go with almost anything...

I wish I had a place in my home to paint the walls this color but I don't. So I will be painting an old dresser instead a-la-MFAMB

Isn't it perfect? From here. She used Farrow and Ball's Hauge Blue in high gloss oil based. I checked and they don't sell F&B anywhere in Dallas to the public. I know right, we are supposed to be all big furniture design center of the middle south and you can't buy this paint in this town, they sell it in Austin, who the hell in Austin needs this stuff?!!

Anyhoos, I'm glad to be back from Highpoint. There was lots of goodness there and I didn't take any pics. I'm a terrible blogger!!! But thats what happens when you're working 12 days straight and you miss your flight because they change the gate and you American Airlines app doesn't update and then the guy at the ticket counter looks at you funny and you eat crappy sandwiches and bags of potato chips for three days straight and get hit on by old married guys when you are trying to work and get people to take you seriously even though you look like a teenager and everyone thinks you're a temp or an intern...oy sorry about that rant there.

Stay tuned for new goings on at my house later this week when I can get some pics in good light even though I'm never home during the day but damnit I'll try!

Color Me Happy; Turquoise and Red

Many of you may remember this dresser I bought a few months back.

I love it, but I have been struggling to make red look good in our bedroom. Until I saw this...

I'm in love. This is the inspiration for our bedroom now. I know red and turq is not a new combo but it certainly has caught my eye recently!

I've done a few brisk searches on the Craig for a headboard I could make my own but nothing has struck me yet as the "one".  I'm thinking I might try to make it my own with something like this.

Does anyone know where I can find affordable white sheets with a deep purple edge like in my inspiration photo? Please share!

Color Me Happy; Back in Black!

This is the beginning of a new series on FOW focused on all things color. Color combos, colors I love, color trends, and colorful rooms!

After seeing this home tour on Bright Bazaar, I was totally inspired by decorating heavily with black. For some reason it feels so fresh all of the sudden. Black certainly gives a mood and certain weight to a room that is unrivaled  by any other color. When paired with small doses of a bright color, perfection!

Maybe just large pieces of furniture will ease you in?

Not ready to take the plunge? Maybe just some black trim will help you get your toes wet!

Black Mantle? Um yes!

A black little girl's room, would you dare? When I was younger I wanted everything pink. I had pink carpeting, pink bedding, pink canopy bed. Hey, at least I knew what I wanted!

What do you have in your house that's black? Would you paint a whole room?
