Should I, Could I?

Paint my beautiful china cabinet?

Would that be a furniture sin? I just feel like the dark wood doesn't go with my black lacquer table and glossy white chairs...What do you think?

It's just that the wood is really beautiful and actually in really good shape too...

WWYD? What would you do?

That is a tough call! I almost feel it would be better to find another home for that china cabinet in a room that the wood would be complimented. Then possibly find a piece that you wouldn't mind painting at a flea market. I have never had a fantastic outcome from painting furniture myself, so I would be afraid!

I just stumbled across your blog for the first time and thought I would say hello! I looked through a few of your posts and love your style.

I'm a blogger as well, about the world of art, but my history is in interior design and fashion. I love to hear what people are saying! Hope we get to see more of each other in the future.

no way. i am all for painting shit...but that wood is gorgeous! i think if the wood is pretty painting it is kind of stupid. that is a really really really pretty piece of furniture.
if i were you i would move it to another room and get something else, with great lines that would serve the same purpose as that on craigslist or something...something that might have a shitty looking patina, and then paint that.

Oh I would say if your not happy with it than paint it. Unless it was a really expensive piece.

I recently saw this gorgeous breakfront/bookcase in "NY Magazine" of a Miles Redd re-do. Left the wood natural but added black details. In your piece, perhaps the door frames only, then it would leave that fabulous grain...
