These are all so good I'm not sure which one is my favorite!

I'm contemplating doing something like this in our hall bath remodel. It's small-ish and has no natural light. That's a project that will have to wait a while though. After the master bath, we're taking a break from major renovations. I also need to focus on the design for our master bedroom and living room. These are the most used rooms and they're virtually untouched as of now!

Have a lovely weekend everyone! I have a few fun things planned for next week so hopefully I can get my butt in gear this weekend and make some things happen!

Currently Obsessed With: Banquets

You do guys ever feel like all the sudden you start seeing something every where? That's how I'm feeling about banquets right now. I'm not sure if it's because they're gaining momentum or just that I really wish I had a spot for one because I just love them!

I have seen this one a few times, and I always love it, especially because of the black and white but that straight back does not look comfortable!

And they're not just for the dining room either!

Which one is your favorite? Do you have one in your home?

House Tour; My Boss's Place

Let's start out this tour with a little daydream shall we? Let's imagine that you have unlimited funds to design and build a home for your family from the ground up. No detail or luxury is left untouched. Then you have yet more funds to fill the place with the most amazing decor. Did I also mention that you have the means to travel the globe to find these things? And great taste to boot?

Enter my boss's place...

Some of you may have already seen this in the January Issue of Romantic Homes, but in case you didn't here it is!

You can't tell but the ceiling of the formal living room is a barely there light blue. Such a nice touch.

This is a view of the entry way. The ceiling is a giant skylight so the room is like one big solarium.

These pillows and chairs inspired by these originals are available. The house is a laboratory of sorts for Aidan Gray creations. You will see many true European originals throughout that inspired some of our pieces.

The kitchen has not one but two identical islands, the other to the right of this photo. One for food prep and one to eat at. The center islands are marble and the counters surrounding are limestone. The glass shelves on the wall are custom.

This is the master bedroom. The seating area to the left over looks the backyard with black bottom pool, English box garden and a little creek at the back.

All photos taken by the wonderfully talented Molly Dickson.

There are so many wonderful rooms not shown here too. And the backyard is jaw droppingly beautiful. We photograph all our images from the catalog here as well. You can see more of that in our online catalog here.

If there are any questions you have please let me know in the comments and I will get back to you. We had a lot of emails with questions on the article. I hope you enjoyed this!

OMG I Just Bought This!

Get an email from One Kings Lane about John Robshaw day, spot a rug, actually make a decision and bam I bought it!

Look it!

I really like it! I'm pretty sure it's going in the living room. It's in the color scheme I'm planning on and I got the 6x9' for only $199 smackers!

I'm usually not one to make a decision like this but I saw this rug before and liked it so I figured I'd better take advantage!

Hopefully there will be no buyer's remorse...I don't think there will be!

Chandeliers and Pendants and Lanterns, Oh My!

I went to the hardware store to buy a new ceiling fan for our bedroom. Gasp! What a decorating sin, a ceiling fan?! But I must face facts that I live in Texas and it gets freaking hot here in the summer. While I was roaming around the department completely unamused at my selections my husband admits that he doesn't like our ceiling fan. He said it dries his eyes out when it's on. Light bulb!

"So can I spend the money for something fancy like a chandelier then?"

"Well it depends on what we're talking about..."

"Since I didn't know it was an option I have no idea what I'd buy instead"

"Well let's split the cost and get what you really want"

Um...hell yes! Sidenote: my husband and I have separate accounts for spending money on fun stuff and a joint account for everything else. Works like a dream btw.

So now the search begins! I already know that I don't want a chandelier right off the bat. Not sure if I can accurately explain why but I just feel I want something more contemporary with a cleaner line. So I've been looking at pendants. Here are some considerations...

Jupiter Chandelier, from Z Gallerie

I think a little touch of glam would be nice.

Square Pendant, Shades of Light

Jonathon Adler Flush Mount

Interlocking Rings Flush Mount

Question: Any of you who have similar ceiling lights or have seen them better in person, how bright are these? My bedroom can get pretty dark and I do my make up in there so I want something with a good amount of light. Not glaringly bright or anything but bright you know?

Currently Obsessed With; Rugs in the Kitchen

It started very subtly, but can now be found everywhere. Rugs in the kitchen bring a certain warmth only a rug can bring. It makes me happy to see how a rug can change a room and kitchens are no exception!

Do you have a rug in your kitchen? I wonder how often they get spilled on. In my house, it would be a lot!

I Heart Lamps!

I went by Target the other day for the usual random stuff and was pleasantly surprised to see some of their new home decor. I was very impressed! Have you been lately? They are just knocking it out of the park!

This collection is my favorite. Full of mirrored pieces and colorful glass items to swoon over.

The colors are so pretty and as far as I can tell, the quality is outstanding. Check out these lamps I got!

Ignore those red drapes, I can't wait to get rid of them! The lamps are a beautiful raspberry pink with matching trim on the shades. So cute! There was so much more I could've bought but I didn't really "need" anything else!

I picked up these two pillows on sale at Urban Outfitters for only $9.99 each! The bigger one has sparkle threading, I love that!

Our bathroom is coming along. It's exciting to come home each day and see what's been done. It's supposed to be done this friday. Only they will have to come back because they forgot that I asked them to remake the drawer fronts to match the new cabinet doors, ugh!

This is a picture of our house during Snowpocalypse 2011. It's been ridiculous, this weather. I'm so glad this weekend is sunny and in the 60's. Can't. Freaking. Wait.

I signed up for a photography course that starts today and I'm super excited! I really did it for, so now you won't have to see my fuzzy pictures all the time, yay!
