How Could You Not Enjoy Your Day?

The amazing husband has set up some new-fangled automated email that sends me a message every hour on the hour during my work day. They go something like this...

On August 28, 1961 Motown releases what would be its first #1 hit, "Please Mr. Postman" by The Marvelettes.

On August 28, 1878 George Whipple, American doctor and Nobel laureate (d. 1976) was born.

Crazy random fact #1: The average person has over 1,460 dreams a year.

Crazy random fact #2: The Kit Kat bar got its name from the Kit Kat Club in London’s West End, a joint famous for bringing dance-band music to the city in the 1920s.

Now that you know the above, how could you not enjoy your day? =)

He's so silly! I love my husband, ooh-la-la I'm a lucky girl!

Last Night...

Image from Here

Last night I had a dream that I ran away. I ran away from everything in my life, even my wonderful husband and went to Thailand, of all places. I guess I've been wanting to go there so that is where my dreams took me. I didn't tell anyone that I was leaving or where I was going. When I got to my destination there was a huge party going on and all my old friends were there. Old friends that I haven't seen or thought of in years. We were all trying to laugh and catch up on eachother's lives but our eyes were filled with the sweetest sadness. I got the feeling that we had all run away from something and through all the giggles was a giant gaping hole in our souls.

Later in the night group of dancers came on and performed and rather than enjoy it I got angry. I thought that the dancers weren't good enough and wondered why my dance group didn't know about this place and why couldn't we perform there. Then another lost friend called from across the room and I forgot about it.

After what seemed like a short stay I returned back to my real life and called my boss. She asked why I had been gone for 3 weeks and where had I been. It didn't feel like I had been gone for that long but then again I guess you don't keep track of time when you're trying to escape your life. I didn't tell her the answers she wanted but it seemed like she didn't really care what I had to say anyways. All the other people in my life didn't really say anthing about my disappearance. It was almost as though they weren't worried about me or they expected me to do something like that anyways. It felt strange to me because I'm always so responsible and careful in real life. Maybe that's why I had this dream to urge my desire to be carefree and throw caution to the wind. Such a thing seems impossible after life saddles you down though.

And then I woke up.

A Different Kind of Inspiration

This kind of inspiration comes from beautiful words. I really need to remember to write more things outside of this blog...

Project Subrosa

Hopefully these will inspire your soul today to do something meaningful, even if that something is taking 5 minutes of your day to drink some tea and breath deep.

Color and Design Inspiration

Some color and design inspiration I've collected from around the web.Beautiful photgraphs from Felice Beato. He photographed life in East Asia during wartime and was the first to develop the technique of hand coloring photographs. The tinted pastels and washed out colors are beautiful.
Celtic patterns, I have seen designs that are celtic inspired popping up here and there.

A cross section of a plant makes a beautiful pattern. You can also see more tinted pastels in this illustration.

These images are courtesy of the very interesting blog Bibliodyssey .

Candy colored images from photographer Miles Aldridge. He uses overexposed effects to create an image with a surreal reality. I have seen color forecasts for upcoming seasons with an emphasis on acid and candy colored brights.

These shimmering blue images are from an art installation by Roger Hiorns. The project is known as Seizure. He turned an abandoned London flat into a glittering sculpture by pouring copper sulphate in through a hole in the ceiling. After a few days the remaining liquid was pumped out for chemical recycling leaving crystals glimmering and reflecting light on every surface. The hues of blue are equally as breathtaking!

Some beautiful images from photographer Marko Ljubez. His images give you a feeling of surrealism and an alternate reality. He does wonders with photoshop as well. Check out some of the amazing images on his site as well as photos from a bohemian Gucci campaign.

Now that I've hopefully inspired you, what will you accomplish today?

Let's Talk About Shoes Shall We?

I have my eye on a lot of shoes out there on the interwebs. Since I have no money to actually buy any of them I just fantasize about all the outfits I could wear them with and decide the hierarchy of my lust for them for when I actually have money to purchase my new best friends. So here are my "needs" for what I'm looking for; I need a pair of gold sandals, I have a pair of silver ones so now I've decided I need gold ones too. I think these might be the ones...
BCBGirls Gladiator Sandal in gold. I like how they have a teensy heel on them.

Love these from Sam Edelman but they are sold out in my size! Maybe theyy will be back in stock...
I'm on a mission to find a great nude shoe to wear with some of my brighter outfits. So far these Vince Camuto ones are the top choice but they may not be as nude in person as I want so the search continues...
These are just for fun and oh so adorable! By Poetic License
A nice taupe shoe option by Steve Madden
I think these would be a great winter nude shoe option by Steve Madden. I love the patent leather and think they would look great with tights. They also come in grey which I'm seriously considering but absolutely don't need!

I like these as a replacement for my current pair of white heels that are soooo uncomfortable I can't even wear them. By Seychelles

A nice bronze sandal with a small wedge. Also by Seychelles
Seychelles is definitely one of my favorite brands for shoes. Their shoes are always stylish without being trendy and a great quality for the price, I highly recommend!
Now you may be wondering, "Paisley, how can you afford such shoe finery?", I'll tell you my shoe shopping secret...I buy most of my shoes from amazon. In fact, all of these shoes here are on Amazon. They have every major shoe brand and most current styles. If you see something you like in a store go home and search for it on Amazon. If they don't have it, be patient and check back often because they will get it in soon. Also, if you see it on amazon and it's full price again, be patient. They will always go on sale! I also recommend that you sign up and pay the small membership fee on amazon. This will give you free shipping and in most cases free returns on almost everything. Another perk of Amazon is they don't charge sales tax. So on an expensive pair of shoes you can save a lot of money. So if you see that pair and you can't wait for them to go on sale you will at least save the sales tax you would've paid if you bought it at the store or ordered it from another website.
So there, I've told you my shoe secret. Now happy shopping!

Vanity for Humanity

I recently came across Bonnie's lovely blog, Love Your Place. Where she spoke about a wonderful project called Vanity for Humanity led by fellow blogger The Paris Apartment. You send in pictures of your vanity to help out the great group Habitat for Humanity. I have a great vanity that I picked up from Canton for only $110 so i decided to join in the fun and help out a great cause. I think that vanities are the ultimate in femininity and every woman should have a beautiful place to start each and every day. Since we've just moved I had to unpack many of my favorite things to do this which then spurred on some organizing and the whole project ended up taking several hours! Oh well I got some overdue things done and I love my end result.
